You Too? No Thanks.
I have to admit the original Live Aid had little effect on me, although I do remember my older brother being obsessed with the coverage, but compared this week's Live 8 crap, it seems like a I should have paid more attention the first time around.
If there's one thing I hate--and we all know I hate plenty of things, it's sanctimonious entertainers asking me to put my money where their mouths are. I know, Live 8 doesn't want my money, they want my awareness. But they want my government's money and since I pay taxes it's the same thing.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think we should let little African kids starve to death if we can help it, but it's not like we can rewrite all of African culture. And I won't even get into the kids in North America who don't have enough to eat. When these rich farts agree to live on $100,000 a year (2 1/2 times the average salary of a U.S. worker by the way) and donate the rest to charity then I'll pay them some attention.
Til then I'll keep my awareness to myself, thanks and declare Mo hates Live 8.
