Fun Run? Bah Humbug!

The princess's school had their annual "Fun Run" yesterday. Don't let the name fool you; it's just a euphanism for beg your friends and family for $$$ for the school. It's really annoying. In the first place, I hate the whole educational notion of throw money at it and it will get better. I also hate the whole contest aspect of it. We don't have a big family; we're not well off. Of course my kid's not going to win the TV. Then there's the whole day of actual educational time the kids lose so they can run around a track. And don't get me started on the way the thing was run. We couldn't even count my daughter's laps for the first 10 minutes because her class didn't have the proper cards.
Anyway, you get the point. The fun run ain't fun!
